Update for this Saturday - 

The parking lot at the Dedmon Center is closed due to flooding but there is ample parking around the upper level of the Dedmon Center. We have also been given permission to park in the Cupp Stadium Lot CC where it is nice and dry!  We will be checking in riders at the main entranced to the Dedmon Center on University Dr.

We are encouraged by the much improved forecast for Saturday. It looks like conditions may be ideal! If you have not yet registered, it’s not too late.  For a $5 discount register online using code - 2017WRRdiscount.

Ride Summary:

A scenic and historical adventure through southwest Virginia’s beautiful New River Valley, the ride follows part of Daniel Boone’s Wilderness Road.  This is a ride for the whole family to enjoy, with something for everyone— 4 routes to choose from ranging from a 29 mile relaxed journey for novices, to a 79 mile challenge for the fittest cyclist.  This is a must ride for cyclists of all ages and athletic abilities. The 26th Annual Wilderness Road Ride takes place Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.

Event Details:

The Wilderness Road Ride takes place Saturday, May 27, 2017. All routes start and finish in Radford, at the Dedmon Center and Bisset Park. Non-riders can enjoy Bisset Park, the New River, and downtown Radford, while their families and friends are out riding.

Fully supported aid stations will be positioned at regular intervals along the course and the start/finish location. Aid stations will be supplied with Heed Hammer Nutrition fuel, as well as water and plenty of other snacks.

Detailed maps and cue sheets will be available at the start of the ride. 

Registration Fees:

  • Adults (age 18+) $35
  • Youth (up to 17) $30
  • Family of 3-5 $80

Proceeds will benefit FCAE ministries and missions projects. FCA is 501c-3 non-profit organization.

* Please remember, this is not a race. All traffic laws, signals, and signs must be obeyed. Personal SAG vehicles are not allowed. The Wilderness Road Ride starts at the Dedmon Center at Radford University.*


FCA Endurance is part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes which is a 501c3 non-profit organization.  Proceeds from the WRR are donated to the local and regional ministry of FCA.  A portion will be used to scholarship and send NRV student athletes to FCA's Summer Camp in Richmond Virginia. Scholarships are granted to student athletes based on financial need. By riding in this event you are investing in the lives of coaches and athletes in our area and making an impact in what matters most!

The 2017 Wilderness Road Ride Custom Cycling Jersey at a blockbuster price!

This year we are providing all riders with cycling socks by the Sock Guys in lieu of a t-shirt. For those looking for an extra memento from the event, we also have available for purchase, a custom cycling jersey for a special price of $50 ($65-90 retail). We have made a few changes to last year's design based on some feedback from previous years. The jersey is available for advanced purchase through the registration website. Orders must be submitted by April 25 for pickup at the WRR event on May 27th. 

Missed the April 25 cut off, no worries. You can place your order the day of the ride and it will be shipped to you with no additional charge after production.
